Yes, just the 4 new players in the back 5, plus Guimaraes and Wood contributing goals today…

Fair to say he's outperforming par with that squad.

Yes he’s doing well, but it’s not mostly the squad he inherited

That's not a majority though is it. Both the majority of the starters and the subs were already there. The likes of Almiron and Joelinton were being ridiculed before this season, they have been absolutely transformed. He's done a superb job so far.

Hence why I used the word 'largely' in my post but that seemed to be ignored. As you point out, many performing well now were seen by all as complete flops previously. The signing of 4 or 5 players by Howe is certainly not a wholesale squad overhaul and would be about par for the course for a summer window.

It was clear what you meant and yes, there hasn't been the sort of splurge that lots of people predicted/hoped/were concerned would happen, which isn't necessarily for want of trying on their part. Isak is obviously the biggest flex of the financial muscles, plus Trippier and Guimaraes were high profile players relative to the position Newcastle were in when they signed but to get what he's got from the likes of Almiron, Joelinton, Murphy, Fraser, Longstaff etc. who people had either written off or would have wanted upgrading has been a great bit of management from Howe.

Anyone still not rating Eddie Howe? on 22:58 - Nov 6 with 1997 views | itfcsuth | Of course spending £200M in 2 transfer windows helps, but you have to spend that money correctly which that have done with good business; Trippier, Gumeiras, Targett and Burn etc. But he’s also finding a tune out of players who were their prior; Joelinton, Willock & Almiron. Overall doing a really good job, will be interesting to see if they can hold a European spot come the end of the season.

Well, consider this, Man United spent virtually as much on Maguire alone as Newcastle spent on Trippier, Batman, Burn and Pope ... Howe has spent shrewdly and he and his coaches have done brilliantly to form a team

Anyone still not rating Eddie Howe? on 08:57 - Nov 7 with 1640 views | ElephantintheRoom | Anyone could do a better job than Brucey surely? Perhaps even Liz Truss with Coffey as her assistant. Personally I think it says something about underachieving players responding to the threat of chain saws and plastic bags. But yes quite an impressive turnaround

Absolute nonsense. Truss would fail to get the board to agree a budget before the Transfer Window shut.
Anyone still not rating Eddie Howe? on 11:04 - Nov 7 with 1520 views | Juggsy | I have the 'pleasure' of regularly watching Newcastle matches as I live up here and my lad gets tickets and have to say the change in philosophy over a few short months has been remarkable and believe me, Eddie Howe wasn't necessarily the hot choice amongst fans at the time of his appointment. I also find it quite comforting watching a team on the up and the hope and belief it has resulted in across the area and drawing parallels with the positive changes at Ipswich. Hopefully we get to see the fruits of our investment at the highest level at the earliest opportunity.
Anyone still not rating Eddie Howe? on 11:35 - Nov 7 with 1484 views | clive_baker | Done a great job. Of course he has spent money, wasn't Isak about £60m which is still eye watering but the way he's got them playing is the most impressive thing. They seem to have so much confidence and freedom, scoring goals. It's such a change from what he inherited and as others have said he's both bought well and seemingly developed those players that were already at the club. I would like to see them finish top 4.

Anyone still not rating Eddie Howe? on 13:39 - Nov 7 with 1362 views | Vaughan8 | Always played good football. At B'mouth he just seem to neglect the defence and eventually got caught out. I was impressed that he got (mostly) good Premier League experienced players in, in January instead of going berserk with the money. Also stole Wood from Burnley which effectively summoned them to relegation instead of themselves. They didn't spend a massive amount in the summer did they? Got that Botman in and Isak (who has hardly played) and Pope?
